Archiving is exactlly what we like to do. Your media is considered a valueable part of history. Be it home movies, slides, or audio tapes. Most of the transfers are done without artificial input, openings, backgroud or sound over, nor do we advertise our company on your media.
GOOD NEWS
When CD Copy Services archives your VHS, SVHS, Video 8, Hi 8, digital 8, 8mm and 16mm into a DVD you may actually see an improvement in the quality of the video when viewing your new DVD.
This is possible because when we digitally re-master your video similar to the way movie companies save old classic movies, First, we play your tape in a professional tape deck that has specific filters and dropout compensators to correct those small lines and artifacts seen in many home movies. Next, the signal is time base corrected and digitized before being recorded on a professional DVD recorder. We are careful to only adjust settings for speed and color correction when necessary in order to preserve the integrity of your video. The result is a properly archived on DVD format. You can now make copies that can be copied and viewed as many times as you like with no loss in viewing quality.
BAD NEWS
When a VHS, SVHS, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, 8mm, 16mm, audio cassette (magnetic tape) is played in a home type consumer quality player and recorded onto similar format there are significant losses. It may not be so apparent the first time, however if you take the second-generation tape and transfer it again the loss is obvious. Also, many viewings causes wear on the rapes and there will be siginificant loss over time. Care and age also play a big part in the transfer quality in the older tape. Heat, cold, dust will cause fading, cracking and deteriation. Storage of this type media in close proximity of a magnetic source can totally erase your tapes.
